Camusdarach

Local Hero is our favourite British film. It has long been our ambition to visit the location at which the beach scenes were filmed, and so our journey up the narrow winding road from Arisaig was something of a pilgrimage. We were not disappointed by the place. Large dunes and beaches of fine, white sand; striking rock formations; and dramatic views across to the islands of Eigg and Rum – Camusdarach may not be as famous as Sanna Bay, further south on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, but it as at least as beautiful.

Canon EOS 5D and EF 24-105mm lens.

Exposure of 1.6 seconds at f/22.
