Coastal East Anglia 1
Slaughden, Suffolk
Slaughden, in common with so many other places on the East Coast of England, is threatened by erosion from the North Sea. Large boulders have been imported from Scandinavia and placed in strategic places along the East Coast as a protective measure. There is a certain irony in the fact that in such places the imported boulders are often the most photogenic feature.
This image was captured in mid-January. Although the East Coast is known – for obvious reasons – as the “sunrise coast”, this image is a testament to the fact that in the winter months good light and impressive skies are also available at the other end of the day.
Canon EOS 5D and 16-35mm lens.
Exposure of 1.3 seconds at f/20.
