Brograve Mill, Norfolk

There’s something of a paradox in the fact that one of the most photographed windmills in the Norfolk Broads happens to be one in such a ruinous state. Brograve Mill lies on the Brograve Level, a short distance from the Norfolk Coast. The mill can be reached by a walk that passes the well-maintained, National Trust-owned Horsey Windpump. To pass one on the way to the other is rather like encountering a prim and proper Victorian lady before making your acquaintance with her desolate, disorderly cousin – the cousin that nobody in the family really likes to talk about.

Canon EOS 5D and EF 24-105mm lens.

Exposure of 30 seconds at f/22.
