Inland East Anglia 1
Sudbury
We are very lucky to have on our doorstep somewhere as photogenic as Sudbury’s water meadows. These meadows, said to be the oldest continuously grazed pastures in the country, are only a 15 minutes’ drive away; and so it is likely (although never certain) that the promising light viewed from our sitting room window will be bathing the meadows when we arrive.
It was only when viewers of this photograph expressed amusement at the cow’s posture that it became evident how odd it was. At the time of capture the intention was to produce an archetypal pastoral scene, not an image which – to use a catchphrase from the Fast Show – could have been entitled “Does my bum look big in this?”
Canon EOS 5D and EF 16-35mm lens.
Exposure of 1/8 second at f/14 (ISO 320).
