Coastal East Anglia 2
Sizewell, Suffolk
Sizewell is best known as being the site of a nuclear power station. It is less well known for the small stretch of shingle beach that runs within a hundred yards of the large, densely built and, frankly, rather less than beautiful power station. There's a strange incongruity in the intimate relationship between, on the one hand, the beach, with its shingle and sand dunes, its fishing boats and simple cafe, and on the other hand, the large, humming and rumbling concrete construction nearby.
