Godrevy Point

There’s much to be said for a visit to the Cornish coast at any time of year, but the wild flowers that flourish in the hedges, on the stone walls and on the cliffs make April a particularly enticing month. This display of thrift was growing on the extreme edge of a tall cliff at Godrevy Point, and so for someone whose palms begin to sweat when he’s halfway up a household ladder, the prospect of standing near such a precipitous drop was not one to savour.

The composition could have been better. In an effort to reveal as much as possible of that remarkably blue water, the positioning of the thrift means that it seems to fight with the layered cliff face for attention. It’s also a shame that the grass in front of the thrift is so brown: lush, green grass would have been preferable.
