Melton, Suffolk

Melton is a Suffolk village lying a short distance away from Woodbridge. This view is from the Wilford Bridge, which carries an invariably heavy volume of traffic over the River Deben. A short distance from Melton and on the other side of the Deben from Woodbridge is Sutton Hoo, the famous site at which excavations shortly before the Second World War led to the discovery of treasures in an Anglo-Saxon ship grave. Now a National Trust property, Sutton Hoo is accepted as being one of the country's most important archaeological sites.
