Burnham on Crouch
Burnham is a pretty town located on the north bank of the River Crouch in Essex. The town and river are separated by a chest-high wall which, while vitally important as a flood barrier, is something of a hindrance for photographers wishing to capture views of such riverside features as jetties and pontoons.
This image, composed to capture the attractive features of the fishing tackle set against a dark and brooding sky, was made by means of a strategic positioning of tripod legs on the footpath and the wall itself, and (not normally recommended) by extending the tripod’s central column.
Canon EOS 5D and EF 16-35mm lens.
Exposure of 1/5 second at f/16.
