Llyn Cregennen, North Wales

One of our regrets during our two weeks in North Wales in June 2006 was the lack of time (and conducive weather conditions) needed to photograph the country's well-known lakes. We did, at least, manage to locate this small but beautiful - and wonderfully quiet - lake, a short distance from the village of Arthog. Llyn Cregennen has everything: an appealingly shaped mountain, a boat house, an island and a car park with - most importantly - a public convenience.

This composition is perhaps a little contrived, but since Wales appeared to us to be as over-run with foxgloves as it was with rhododendrons, it seemed only proper that we should capture at least one scene with a foxglove included.

Exposure of 0.6 seconds at f/16.

Canon EOS 5D and EF 24-105mm lens.
