Port Gobhlaig
Port Gobhlaig is perhaps the most northerly inhabited place on the Isle of Skye. It is a small collection of quiet, unimposing dwellings and a modest harbour from which can be seen the impressively pinnacled, mountainous landscape known as the Quiraing. In gale force winds we battled our way out of our car at the top of the Quiraing and waited for as long as the gale force wind would allow us in the hope that light would emerge. Five lightless and wind-battered minutes later we struggled back into the car and decided to find a quieter, more hospitable location. Port Gobhlaig, with its view across to a now-sunlit Quiraing, proved to be that location.
