This simple scene of a barley field, the corn's ears warmed by the light from the setting sun, was captured only a few minutes' walk from our home village of Bures. It is too easy when travelling to distant parts of the country to overloook the gems that can be found on our doorstep.

The stillness of that evening ensured that, despite the long exposure of two seconds, the barley ears remained sharp.

Canon EOS 5D and EF 16-35mm lens.

Exposure of 2 seconds at f/22.
