West Runton

Anyone who has bought Tom Mackie's inspiring book "Landscape Photography Secrets" may find that this image, of a shell and seaweed at West Runton, on the Norfolk coast, rings a bell. The subject matter - bladderwrack and periwinkle - is the same; as is the location. Even the composition is the same. To some this may be blatant plagiarism. But on the other hand it is said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and who better to imitate than Norfolk-based Mr Mackie, acknowledged to be one of the world's best landscape photographers.

Three shots were taken of this composition. It was only when viewing the three shots together that it became clear that the periwinkle was actually on the move!

Canon EOS 5D and EF 24-105mm lens.

Exposure of 1/15 second at f/8.
