The Naze

A log, a branch and an unsightly concrete wall may not be the most obvious of photogenic subjects. But when they, and the still waters of this pond beside the sea at the Naze, are bathed in the most glorious sunset colours and light, then even such mundate objects become things of beauty.

Initially the composition included a greater expanse of water at the foot of the frame. But as that element was dark and, frankly, superfluous, it was cropped away in Photoshop with the added bonus of placing the log a little nearer to a third.

Canon EOS 5D and EF 16-35mm lens.

Exposure of 1 second at f/18.
