Loro Ciuffenna

Loro Ciuffenna is a remarkably beautiful and old Tuscan town, located in the province of Arezzo. The River Ciuffenna runs through the town and is crossed by an ancient bridge with low sides that seem to offer little protection from the precipitous drop below. In England, Health and Safety authorities would have insisted on putting higher barriers in place, or even closing the bridge altogether. In Italy....well, perhaps they rely on people to use their common sense!

The aim of this composition was to place the town in the context of its river and Spring foliage, with the distant mountains (a sprinkling of snow still evident) playing a supporting role.
