Staithes, North Yorkshire
Necessity is the mother of invention. We had hoped for fine winter light on our visit to Staithes, but an impressive bank of sea fog, rolling in to coincide with our arrival, put paid to such hopes. So rather than tracking down the familiar vantage points where a thousand tripod feet have left their marks, we looked for inspiration elsewhere. This particular view, with the sun only just visible behind the fog cloud, would probably not have been possible had Staithes been bathed in fine winter light!
