Sudbury

A view across Sudbury’s water meadows, said to be the oldest continuously grazed land in England.

Very, very occasionally, all the right conditions come together. The elements in the scene before you combine to create a pleasing composition; an interesting sky (perhaps the most elusive feature of all) decides to linger and not metamorphose into a cloudless expanse; and the sort of light you spend more time dreaming about than actually seeing makes its own vital contribution. This image captures a perfect moment in which even a branch and a fisherman had a part to play.

Exposure of 0.3 seconds at f/16.

Canon EOS 5D and EF 16-35mm lens.
