Lago Trasimeno
Lago Trasimeno is one of Italy’s largest lakes. This image was captured a short distance from Castigilione del Lago, an impressive mediaeval town built on a hill on the lake’s western shore. Despite the poor weather conditions, the huddled boats provided a great photographic opportunity. The purpose of the nets and sticks protruding from the water surface remains unclear, but presumably they are fishing tools to catch the pike, carp and tench that thrive in the lake.
