Swanage
Evening sunlight illuminates rocks at Swanage, one of many outstanding locations on the beautiful Dorset coast. Earlier in the afternoon we had sat on the harbour wall and thrown the remnants of our delicious but filling cod, chive and parsley fish cakes (bought from the Fish Plaice) into the air, marvelling at the gulls' acrobatic ability to catch them before they hit the water.
For Ian this image represents a seemingly insoluble conundrum. So often an image that strikes a particular chord as far as the photographer is concerned is met with indifference by others. In such instances it seems that two versions of one image have been captured: one that contains qualities visible only to the photographer; the other flawed with deficiencies visible only to everyone else!
Canon EOS 5D and EF 16-35mm lens.
Exposure of 0.6 seconds at f/18.
