Whitby
One of the advantages of being a landscape photographer is that, in order to make the most of the light, you have a good reason for remaining at a location long after sane people have left for the day. Before this image was captured, the pier at Whitby had been teeming with people enjoying a stroll on a May bank holiday afternoon. In time the holidaymakers gradually dispersed, leaving us alone on an empty pier, with illuminated lampposts and a glorious evening sky.
