Lago Trasimeno
We drive over a thousand miles from East Anglia, where boats probably outnumber people, all the way to Tuscany, and what do we end up photographing? Boats.
A short time before this image was captured we walked in the rain around the deserted streets of Castiglione del Lago, a historic town on the edge of Lago Trasimeno. The emptiness of the town made our encounter with the actor Colin Firth, standing in a shop entrance out of the rain and sampling foods offered to him by the shopkeeper, all the more surreal. Any women reading this may be disappointed to learn that, unlike Mr Darcy’s, Mr Firth’s shirt was dry.
