Saltwick Bay, North Yorkshire

Saltwick Bay can be found a mile or two down the coast from Whitby. Reached by a small and winding road that arrives at the unpromising destination of a cliff-top caravan site, the bay - which, surprisingly, resulted from extensive alum quarrying - has been photographed by the likes of Joe Cornish and David Tarn. For any landscape photographers visiting the North Yorkshire coast, Saltwick Bay is an essential location.
