Llyn Idwal

Llyn Idwal is reached by a stoney path that winds its way up from the visitor's centre beside the busy A5 at the western end of Llyn Ogwen. This is a place which seems to be at its best when stormy weather is threatening. Such conditions evoke an atmosphere that complements the location’s close proximity to a rock cleft known as the “Devil’s Kitchen”.

This composition is intended to encourage the eye to follow the stones through to the island and on to the mountains on the far side of the lake.

Canon EOS 5D and EF 16-35mm lens.

Exposure of 0.8 seconds at f/22.
