St Michael's Mount

St Michael's Mount, with its privately occupied castle, can be reached at low tide by means of a causeway that extends from the beach at Marazion. A short time before this image was taken, the causeway was fully exposed; shortly afterwards, it was completely submerged.

In this composition a low angle was adopted to allow the attractive stone patterns and colours of the causeway to dominate, but without detracting from the essential feature of the Mount.

Canon EOS 5D and EF 17-40mm lens.

Exposure of 1 second at f/20.
